Located in the south-western part of Italy, Calabria is a kissed by the sun region with rugged mountains, ancient villages and a spectacular coast with many renowned beaches.
Land of perfumes and colours, and caressed by the Ionian Sea and Tyrrhenian Sea, Calabria offers incredible landscapes between rocky coasts alternating with coasts of fine sand and an uncontaminated hinterland where the green of the beautiful forests and mountains merges with the blue of waterfalls and lakes.
Among the jewels that Calabria holds, we find Tropea, the pearl of the Tyrrhenian Sea and Capo Vaticano, one of the 100 most beautiful beaches in the world. Tropea is a small seaside resort overlooking the sea (about 60mt): Its historic center is a pearl, with its noble palaces, its ancient portals and its typical southern Italian welcome. Capo Vaticano, on the other hand, is one of the most enchanting places imaginable, white beaches, cliffs, bays and coves, pristine sea with exotic clarity.
Then Scilla, one of the most characteristic medieval villages in Italy with ancient palaces and churches as well as a seaside resort much appreciated for its natural beauty, the sea, the beaches, the numerous events and typical restaurants.
There are also many seaside resorts: Soverato, Riace, Isca on the Ionian Sea, Sant’Andrea Apostolo, Monasterace, and Stilo, a spectacular village of art and culture nestled at the foot of Monte Consolino, where visitors can appreciate an amazing Byzantine church dating back to the 10th century.
Stilo also belongs to the circuit of the Most Beautiful Villages of Italy.
Gerace is another jewel destination not to be missed. Medieval village in the Locride area, it is rich in art, history and culture with Byzantine churches, the Norman castle in the upper part and alleys where you can breathe an atmosphere of the past.
The largest city of Calabria is Reggio Calabria, on the coast, where the National Archaeological Museum and the Bronzes of Riace are located, two famous Greek warriors of the fifth century BC.
The provinces of Calabria are: Catanzaro (capital), Cosenza, Crotone, Reggio Calabria, Vibo Valentia.
